A few years ago, in the middle of a quiet conversation, a friend shared something that has lingered with me ever since.

“The holidays stress me out,” she said with a soft smile. “I think this year, we’re skipping Christmas cards. I’m going to do New Year’s photos with the kids instead. A way to celebrate the year behind us and welcome the one ahead.”

Then, in January, her card arrived. Simple. Beautiful. And completely unexpected.
I sat with it. I really sat with it. There was no pressure, no chaos swirling in the background. Just stillness. Presence. And it moved me.

I placed it on the fridge, where it lived for months. Eventually, it graduated to the shelf, no longer just a card, but a little piece of their story that felt too special to tuck away.

That card reminded me of what holiday portraits can be, not just tradition for tradition’s sake, but a thoughtful reflection of where we’ve been and where we’re going. This year, I’ve found myself in that all-too-familiar space again. October rushes in with weddings in full bloom, and before I know it, messages flood in….
“Please tell me you’re doing minis this year!”
“We’ve been waiting!”
“We don’t want to miss it!”

And I want to make it happen. I do. But then I blink, and it’s mid-November, and I’m still staring at a calendar that doesn’t have room to breathe.

So this year, I’m doing something different. Something more aligned.
Something more intentional.

For the first time ever, I’m offering New Year’s Sessions, designed to help families celebrate in a way that feels calm, elegant, and completely un-rushed.
